Default Fishing report for Kentucky Lake Big Sandy River 09/07/2013

Hi folks. Welcome to Richard Williams Outdoors.

The water levels here on Kentucky Lake came up a little for just a short time then started to drop and is supposed to be at 356.6 by the end of this weekend. The surface temperatures are still in the mid to the lower 80’s.
The crappie fishing has actually gotten a little better this week. I got an email the other day that said our local hero and guide Steve McAdams caught over 40 keepers on a trip earlier this week. They were fishing vertical with minnows holding the pole in their hand because the bite was very light. From now until next spring, the folks that will catch the most fish will be holding a pole in their hand because the bite will be so light; you will never know you are getting a hit unless you are holding the pole.
Crappieusa is having a qualifying tournament this month on the 21st. This is the last tournament to get qualified for this years National Championship which is also here in Paris next month October 23rd thru the 26th. The weigh in sites for both tournaments will be at the Paris Landing Marina boat launching area. There will be a seminar the evening of September 20th. at Buchannan Resort. Sign up for the tournament will start at 5:00pm and the seminar will start at 7:00pm. If you ever wanted to fish in a National Championship tournament, this is one you should fish in. They will qualify the top 20 teams that are not already qualified. With most everyone already qualified for the Classic, it is possible to qualify just by fishing in this tournament. There will also be a kids fishing rodeo on that Saturday morning that is free to all kids 12 and under. There will be prizes for every kid that signs up plus their names will be put into a drawing for one of several scholarships to be given away at the Classic next month. Sign up starts at 8:00 am and they are allowed to fish from 9:00am until 11:00am. For more info about these tournaments, you can go to their web site at www.crappieusa.com

Well that’s all the time we have for this week.
    See-ya on the water folks.
    Thanks for listening.
