Default Aybody run into these before in TN?

Caught this fish yesterday, bent down to pick it up and from my point of view I thought the fish had tried to eat a snake or eel and had the thing hanging out of its gills. Well I grab the fish and "What tha @#$%$$% is that?" Freaking sea monster . Done some research and its called a "Mountain Brook Lamprey". Anybody else see one of these in TN before? This thing moves fast, had big black eyes on top and gills down both sides. it was 8-9"

Yep. I been catching Crappie for about the last 10 years where some of the larger fish had these lamprey on them. In fact, we caught some yesterday 3/29/11. The ones I have caught have been on Chickamauga.

Google it and see what you get. Lake champlain has some 5' long from what I saw. According to what I saw these are found in TN only in the Cumberland and TN river systems. This one came from the Cumberland.

The little suckers are hard to pull off, but Im sure the fish appreciates it.

Close up of their mouth. Ugly boogers.

I've never seen them, but I'm glad you guys posted this. It will help me not soil myself when one shows up on one of my fish

Great bait. Tipped my sauger jig with one once and caught several fish in a matter of minutes on the thing.
