    Default New Guide Rules

Heard this morning that Tn adopted a fee for Guide License recently. Looked on TWRA website and could not find any info. Is this for real???

Default Well, I may have to. . .

I may have to, or hire a TN prinicpal guide. There has been no license until maybe now. I just heard the other day that a license has been instituted for this year. Just trying to find out. I don't do much, probably 5 times a season now, but if there is a license now, I will have to get one or hire a resident guide.

I was told by a TWRA a few months back there was no license for guiding. But you know how the government plays with the rules.

I've been checking the site frequently, just to see what general changes may be in store for 2010... nothing. Guess they aren't going to post anything until the 2010 regs go into effect, which will be March 1.

What purpose will a license do other than run off the little guys. Regular full time guides will love it Im sure. With it would probably come a mandated liability insurance like other licenses in the state. Whats next a required captain's license on navigable waters. I dont know this but is there a Tennessee Guides Association???

    Default Purpose was clear

Maybe this was just a rumor, but, I was told that the license fee for residents would be $5 and $500 for non-residents. Pretty clear what the purpose would be. But like I said, this might just be a rumor since no one here could verify. We have multiple guides and COs who post, so maybe its just a false alarm
