Default Lake Hartwell Striper Nightstalk 5-10-08

Got tied up to the Double Bridges near Portman just as dark was settling in and the wind was calming. We fished in 51 feet of water with the temp being 72. We caught 1 Striper 4 Hybrid 1 largemouth and 6 Cats (3 - 7 lbs). The hydrid and largemouth were caught between 20 to 30 feet on Herring. The striper and catfish were caught on cut herring on bottom. We left when it started lightning, so around 1am I think. Here is a picture of the striper.

How much did the striper weigh? I almost went to the same place last night, looks like I missed out. I used to fish that bridge and the one on the other side of Portman's alot, but not much in the last couple years. What kind of lights do you use? Jdman

The striper weighed 9lbs 4 oz. We used the Q-beams Starfire that you can get at Wally world pretty cheap.

Hey Boston, I was casting over to a point. I was landing on a steep ledge that went from 0-50 feet.

Hey thanks alot funfishing! :D I try to go as much as I can and usually make it out once a week, sometimes twice. Looking at my fishing log from last year we had some good luck nightstalking from the 1st week of May until the last week of June at both the Double Bridges and the Seneca River bridge beside Portman Marina. Alot of fish are still up the river arms but it won't be long before they starting moving back to the big water. Good luck if you go!!
