Thanks for the report. Sounds like you had fun.
Since I quit crappie fishing last Friday I now fish for bream where crappie might be........The Missus wanted fish tonight so I fished about 5 hours today.Caught 9 all total .Tried a new spot and on my first cast I thought i hooked a catfish...but it wasnt... It was my biggest crappie ever and nearly broke my tippet in the trolling motor. It was 13 1/2 inches and a ball on a flyrod.Interestingly after i caught enough for dinner on the flyrod I tried different ways of fishing.I tried a small spinner bait,I tried casting jigs on a spinning rod and finally tried minnows.Never had a strike. For me using a micro jig on a flyrod is the only way to have a fish dinner.Oh well fried crappie(really fresh), hush puppies and homemade slaw..who could complain....
The water temp was 65.2 at 10:00 Am,air temp 65%,winds moderate to gusty from the NW,water mildly clear. After 4 days of wind it finally calmed to glass this evening so tomorrow looks good.
I hope you all have a wonderful day with a creel filled with good moments...

Never used a flyrod except to fish around the bank for whatever hit when the mayflies have hatched , then I have caught almost every fish in the lake !! Boy when the Mayflies are out & you can get a breeze blowing them off the trees , you can catch Bass, Bream, shell crackers, crappies, cats & its almost every cast !! I always liked useing a really small spinner bait , sometimes I would use a BIG POPPER & just target bass .
