    Default Keowee Crappie

Hello all! Me and my buddies have been reading the posts for about a year now and I finally took the time to register and post. I've noticed that Cleon seems to be a "nightstalk" expert on Keowee. We are planning on trying the nightstalk ordeal next week. We have been fishing the south cove and cane creek areas during the day with not much luck this year. I believe 8 was our best catch so far. The water temps seem to be a good bit cooler for late march on our end(53-55) than last year(56-59)and hopefully the bite just hasn't started good yet. Anyway here's some pics from last march 13th-23rd when they cranked up in our holes.

Welcome slabjaw! I think you're right the water is alittle cooler this year. They are about a week or so behind. Do you fish jigs in that clear water?

sometimes we have good luck on the jigs especially with the black crappie but for the most part it's strictly small minnows.

    Default keowee

I'm a Keowee fisher also, like Cleon I fish the north to mid part of the lake also. I also fish at night and can not give you much info on day fishing. But if you ever need some night stalking tips just ask, I might could give a few tips. Right now Stamp creek seems to be hot.

Welcome aboard slabjaw!! I'll be looking forward to your reports. I would hardly call myself a nightstalk 'expert' on Keowee. There are a few guys that post Keowee reports on here and I'm sure all will help if you have any questions. I've never really done much good during the day with crappie on Keowee, maybe catch a few here and there. From the pics, I could learn a few things from you.

There are a few wise men on this board that I listen to carefully. Especially Rango and Gabowman. Good luck!

    Welcome jaw,

There's some great folks on here another one I'd look up if you have any questions on keowee, is SNOWMAN, He put me on fish and I never meet the man before that, but have had a chance to fish with him in a rodeo on wylie a year or so back. he just don't post much but he can catch a fish at night too.

But you'll find that most everyone on here is just plain old good people.
    If you don't get hung every-once-n-a-while you ain't jigg'n it right..:D
