    Default Driving lights for boat

I'm thinking of mounting some kind of lights on the front of my boat to help see at night. Anyone know of or used any that are fairly cheap that work ok? Don't want to break the bank, just be able to throw out some light to see bouys, etc. without having to hold up the spot light all the time. Jdman

Most states they are not legal to run them on a boat. They blind everyone else.

i really dont know for sure what the law is on burning lights while under way, other than the standard running lights. all im saying is ot got pulled over the other night cause he has two fog lights on his toon, one on each front corner, and the man told him he wasnt allowed to run lights like that on the water at night and to cut em off.. i dont burn lights like that at night so i havent never thought much about it. but if i was to decide to install one or two, id be sure to check the laws before i hit the switch, so he wont be having that reason to blue light me.. :D. he wasnt talking about a hand held spotlight.

I was pulled @ keowee Marker lights were not workin figuared would use the (Docking Lights) Was stoped by a real jerk of a officer, (not a real Warden) County.Dont have enought sence to drive a taxie cab and we give him a gun and a badge and a nice boat to ride in. Was going to fine me. I tryed to explaine to him my boat was new and on her first trip but he gave me a choice to cut them off or fine me. Then wouldnt escort me to the landing. With Grand babys and all had to runn for about 3 miles in stealth mode. Guess its better to get run over in the dark. Like I said he was a county cop. I have yet to run into a game mangement officer that hasnt treated us respect. But yes in S.C. those running lights are for dockin only.

what about when they be catching shad and other bait them be the light that you have on the pole out side your house and they light the hole area up like they are moble dam but i guess you have some that will say something and some will not cause on the hill at night,no i think they just be survay men that come and ask you about what we are fishing for and what have we got and where are we from but thanks for letting us know if any one see me comeing your way im not trying to get in your boat its just i cant see that go at night just yell or blow your horn or shoot a flare to let me know were you are i what look at your honey hole or stop and fish 10 foot away from any one

I do not know the laws, but maybe it's because the white light on a boat is on the rear and if you run them on the front it could confuse other boaters on which direction you are going.
