Default Wylie 3-18 and a hawg.

seen where the weather man screwed up big time today. supposed to blow 10-20, then 15-20 this evening/night. well it was slick calm in the pond in the back yard alllll day. 4pm rolled by and it was still slick. 6pm came up and it was still slick. screw this im goin fishin! it will either be a bang or bust. total spur of the moment.

anywho set up just before dark and the bite was pretty slow. there was never a flurry of action but it was steady picking. i never htought id say this but i caught more "small" wylie crappie today then slabs (10-11 inch fish). but the slabs i caught were picture worthy :D

caught one that went 2.2, then i finally topped my personal best/"beginners luck" best which was 2.5. few minutes before go time landed one @ 2 lbs 9 oz!!! :D finally jumped over the 2 1/2 lb hurdle after some 5+ yrs., and now maby 3 lbs will be next? Pics will follow sometime tomorrow so for now yall will have to just sit and wait :D

anywho never really got a final tally but im guessing bout 12 crappie and 20 perch. 1 of them perch is also one of the biggest ive seen out of wylie prob about 1 1/2 lbs. released some 5 more thugs, and i hooked into something i ever got turned after nearly 3 or so minutes it straightned my hook....possibly one of them big wylie blues???

water temp at upper end is 58-60, and dingy but still very fishable.

way to go pete. if a man wants a huge crappie from wylie nows the time to do it. :D. ot put off a trip last night cause of what the weather man was saying, and i put off a long lining trip yesterday for the same reason. with a 10-20 forecast i aint hooking the beast up. he called me last night chomping at the bits wishing hed went. he was giving the weather man a lot of grief :D

I sat on the deck saying to myself "it's going to get rough any minute now". Wrong. There were more waves in my beverage container than on the lake. Should have gone out. Congrats Pete on the PB.

Hey Pete, I missed quite a few trips already this year listening to the weathermen that turned out to be WRONG!! Now I just kinda look up in the sky right before sundown and make my own decision....be it right or wrong. I've came to the conclusion muy guess is about as good as theirs anyway. Sometimes you just gotta take a chance and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. Congrats on what sounded like a decent trip and catching your PB.

I'm with you crappietracker...I made up my mind that I'd let the weather run me off instead of the weather-man
