Default Ohioan going to be in SC for a while

    Hi all,

I am from NW Ohio but starting in late March I will be living in Charleston for 6 weeks for a clinical rotation. I'm going to be missing a lot of good fishing up here but I was hoping I could find some while in SC. I really haven't started looking for anything on my own yet but I wanted to see if there were any good crappie lakes in the Charleston area. I'm thinkin March/April should be a great time for crappie down there. Also, if anyone thinks they will have an open spot on a weekend I would be interested. Thanks all.

Just follow the Cooper River, the farther up you go the fresher the water gets. Leads you all the way to the Santee/Cooper area with Lake Moultrie and Marion. Some of the best fishing in the world!!! Nice Crappie and BIG Cats!! I grew up in Summerville and miss it terribly!!!
Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.

Welcome! You are now among many of us transplanted buckeyes. Most of us would have to be hogtied and dragged back to Ohio. The fishing in SC is great and the fishermen even better. I believe that I was born a southerner it just took me a little while to get here.

Only a couple more weeks til I'm out of this terrible Ohio weather. How has the fishing been in the Charleston area lately? Looks like I'm going to be getting down there on the 21st.

Well we are heading out tomorrow around 1 and we're stopping on the way so we should be getting to Charleston around noon on Friday. We have had awful weather up here so I haven't even been out so if I have time I may try and do a little fishing this weekend. From looking at maps it looks like Moultrie and Marion are the two closest lakes to Charleston. Is this correct? How has the fishing been at these two places?

Drive over to Goose creek and fish Bushy park and fish In the old rice patties,
When I lived there I did real good in Foster greek.
You can also put in at Monck cornner At the trail race canel around the banks and the docks. You can get some nice cats and stripper close to the dam on the right side. or under the bridge close to the old dock restaurant.
Just be ready when you hear that horn blow if you are close to the dam
