i hook mine through the bottom lip and out the top lip.
Whats the best way to hook bass minnows to both keep them alive and get the most strikes?

A Guide on Murray suggests that you hook them through the eyes toward the nose. Doesn't impair the breathing nor strike the spinal cord. I have used it on shad and bass minnows and it works for me.
The back for downlining with little boat movement. Lip nose or eyes for trolling, and tail if anchored. Those are rules of thumb, but something to start with.
I'm guessing bass minners are large shiners...err...large crappie minners, huh?!?
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.
Correct! Usually about $6.00 a dozen in the stores.
No, they are not baby largemouths!!!

Everybody does it different, and most of them work. I use a 3-0 circle hook and I hook mine right behind the head, going just deep enough to hold him on the hook. I think it gives them a more natural look in the water. Try several ways and see what works for you the best.
