    Default Wateree Striper Report 12.1.07

I was out again on Wateree this morning with a world famouse fishing guide who was looking for some time away from having to put other folks on fish!! :D He got to sit back and catch fish and did not have to worry about catching bait or taking fish off!!

We chased birds again, and luckily this time I knew a little more than the last trip and was able to get on fish right away. There were several other boats and everyone seemed to do well. Today the birds did not take us to the fish all day, and by 9:30am the blitz was over.

We saw Jason at the ramp and he said there were some fish at June Creek, so we headed up there and found stripers under baitfish schools near the bottom on ledges and were able to finish out our limit on the fish there. Vertical jigging was the trick, but it was hard to stay on the schools of fish.

The live baiters seemed to have a good moring also judging from the coolers of fish at the ramp. Heck, we even got to see Flopeye and his dog down at the Dutchmans Creek boat ramp trying to catch bait in a castnet from the bank!!!

Overall it was not as good as Wednesday, but wonderful to be on the water!

Yup Rango it was me. Catnip could not make it this morning, so I dragged my boat down south!! I hollared at you on Ch. 69, but I don't know if you had your radio on.

SlabHunter, us catfish junkies are trying to learn how to catch some bait and food in between cat trips!!! :D Striper fishing is fun, and the bird chasing keeps things hopping. Maybe one day we will figure out this live bait down lining stuff and then we will have more options in our arsenal.

Be careful with catching and keeping those largemouth, yellow perch, and bluegill that are caught in a cast net Flopeye. That will get you a ticket if "the man" catches you!! Largemout and bream are considered gamefish and can not be kept if caught in a cast net.
