Hum,I guess we got lucky in april then.I will stay up the creek thank you.
typical wateree stripers 3-6 lbs or so. the largest i caught in the river run back in the spring was 8lb12oz. typical (for us) wateree catches. If you want big fish, you need to go to a different lake.

yea but If its a big one I try to be careful with it.I about chit when I see someone carry a big one by the gills, even lifting them up without full support can damage the toughest old catfish. But thats just me.Keep in mind, this catfish has been through a lot and it may take a bit of time for him to get his senses back and revived fully.
I know the weight with tape mesure, within a 1/2 to 1 lb most of the time.Mike weighs them with just his eyes,Timmy too.I dont like scales unless they r the kind you can lay the fish out flat on.

people i fish with throws em in the cooler without too much thought about the fishes future so aint much concern about hangin em on the scales. if somebody on the boat dont want em, they know someone who does, so its catch and keep for us.... tournament fishermen and some guides practice it but the recreational fishermen i know dont. theres some awfully good fillets and nuggets on the big catfish. yum yum.....:D

yum yum eat em up, blues are good but I prefer the smaller ones.
Flops I did'nt think you were a C&R man. What was your biggest catfish in Wateree before this spring (2007), if you don't mind me askin?? BTW, I pay a lot of attention to avatars posted by you guys.
my favorite fish to eat is the little fish camp sized ones, 6-8 inches. when they that small, i think all the cats taste good. im partial to brim, wp and small catfish above all the rest of em.Originally Posted by Catnip

Hey don't forget those white perch. They eat pretty good! If you don't eat them they make good bait too.
