i am by no means an expert, but these are my opinions from someone who does most of his fishing for crappie on Wylie fishing shallow along the banks.

1) I do most , but not all,of my fishing in South Carolina. There is no reciprocal agreement between North and South Carolina, so you would need to buy licenses for both if you want to fish both. in a kayak you can put in at Nivens Creek. Several bank fisherman have done well there the last couple of weeks.

2) Most of the fish will be in the creeks versus the main shoreline. Lots of guys on this forum catch them in the creeks longine trolling with jigs. but if you fish shallow like I do you will want to fish coves off the creeks.

3) Wylie always looks stained to me. I do better in the clearer water. I fished the very stained water yesterday from the rain and had a much slower day versus earlier in the week.

No difference in fishing the east or west side of the lake, in my experience.

4) Some days this year I have done better in the morning, sometimes in the afternoon.

5) For shallow water fishing on the banks, April is the better time as it has the spawn. I start catching shallow fish in mid March and it continues to mid May. April is the prime time.

Thanks! Planning my next 2 week trip to visit Charlotte area ……. looking at calendar dates and places to stay on the lake!

This years trip that just ended appears to have been early……got a few …but water was still cold as well as weather!

Wouldnt mind fishing for bluegills too. From my experience they usually are a few weeks
after the crappies
