    Default 2/9 In The Mud!

Got to the lake and seen coon tracks going across the lake at the ramp!! And let's not mention all the trash on top of the water. And the current going out the creek looked like a river running. Man! Did I pick a wrong day for fishing. Since the lake was over full they HAD to be pumping back at Russell Dam and letting water off at Clark Hill Dam.

Anyway, I fished here and there but everywhere I fished was new water for me. I fished places I normally wouldnt consider but I had to fish somewhere because everywhere I usually fish was trashed and red!

About everywhere I tried was a slow go but I would catch a fish every once in awhile. I was mainly fishing DEEP water, especially for longlining. Most everywhere I tried was out in the mouth of the creeks so I tried staying in water 27' and no deeper than 35' deep. There was much deeper waters I just avoided them.

Anway I didnt take any pictures of the trip or the fish while on the boat. Biggest fish I caught was 12.5" and only had a very few that was under 11". Caught 25 and kept 17 for the neighbors. Here's the livewell shot for the day........

Good move to adapt to changing conditions. Getting out of our comfort zone is good. Happy you were successful. That’s what builds confidence.

I'm glad that you found some when you were out plowing the lake. Thanks for sharing your trip with us and letting everyone know you can still catch them in bad conditions

I've never did any good in muddy water. I always get flustered and leave. But then again, I don't know how to fish in the first place. I'm just lucky!
