    Default Lake Tugalo

Anyone have any insight on Lake Tugalo? I have heard how beautiful the lake is and rumors of some large crappie, its a beautiful time of year right now and was thinking about going up there. Have any of you ever been?

I have fished it, don't discount the beautiful jumbo yellow perch big enough to fillet boneless. Just like eating walleye. Bring om night crawlers and bobber fish points and ledges for jumbo perch. Perch like being near the bottom, not always suspended. The landing on the SC side is paved all the way in with a nice landing, but steep. Make sure you go during daylight when its not raining. It is also single lane, so make sure you stop, blow your horn a few times before proceeding. Backing up wont be an option with a bigger boat. I even needed 4 wheel drive climbing the hill on the paved side on wet pavement as the switch back made my back tires lift in the air with the boat still on the downward slope and not leveling off. You will make it fine though if it dry in 2x4. I tried the NC side, but better have 4 wheel drive, meaty tires, even steeper and nothing but an unimproved, coble dirt road. mid summer would be good for trolling for walleye over deep water. There is a motor restriction, so used my 9.9 kicker motor. I found a nice cabin for rent outside Clayton, GA for the trip, just picked the wrong weekend during a hurricane. Lots of rain.
