Marion tackle
I’m headed down to Marion for the last week in June for family vacation. Is there any lure or color that is a must have in my tackle box? Will be going for bream crappie and bass. Thanks

Hopefully, inkdabber will chime in. That's his stomping grounds. I think brush will be pretty hot at that point for crappie. Bream can probably be found around docks and shallow cover around shade. Can't speak on hot colors but I'd suggest old standard crappie jigs in 1/32 oz...black/chart, yellow/white, red/chart....yellow was a good color for me down there this past spring. Keep in mind, I've never fished Marion in June, but that's just where I'd start

Could be several places, big water, cooper's, jacks Creek. Largemouths were hitting watermelon seed and pink bubble gum floating worms, this past weekend. Red worms around the cypress trees for bream and you will have to get with Ink on the crappie, I haven't had any luck with them, this year down there.

Just like the others have stated, brush piles dominate the summer pattern for crappie. Don’t overlook shallow vegetation either. We catch crappie in waters 5 feet and less year round. Top water action for bass early and late in the day, and always keep your eyes out for schooling activity. Shell crackers will be hard to find, bedding activity for bluegill will still be be present. There is no set color scheme. I like darker colors on dark days, lighter colors on bright days. A little chartreuse thrown in should do the trick.

Thanks ink. The vmbo just sent the address. Ralph bell rd Summerton. Next to foxboro golf club. I know I’ve never fished that part of the lake. Any certain bait shops that y’all recommend up that way? Any other recommendations for that area would be great. Thanks.

That is located on Taw Caw creek. You will have Goat Island marina near bye and across the creek is a big camp ground that I don't remember the name of. Both sale bait and tackle and offer restaurants. Good fishing can be had in that area, especially in the spring. Never fish up that way in the summer. I know pleasure boat traffic will be tough on the weekends. Bass should still be good early and late, along with bedding bream. Catfishing is real popular in that area of the lake as well. If the winds are calm, head out to the main lake and go into the dead forest located out in the middle of the lake. Good crappie action can be had if you can find the fish. It's one of my favorite areas to fish when the pleasure boat crowds take over the creeks.
