Back out this morning searching for crappies on Big & Little Allison. After trying several brush piles, we had only 2 crappies. Marked what we thought were crappies but they would not hit minnows or jigs. So if the crappies would not bite, why not catch some perch. Tried a bunch of the usual spots in 20 to 25' but only caught a couple of small perch. Moved back around to Big Allison around the power lines. Here, we were in 25 to 35'. Finally started catching perch on minnows & spoons. Had some good size perch mixed in with the small ones.

    Water temperature was around 70.

Ended up with about 30 perch, 2 crappies & 1 bass.

Thanks Mr. Charles for the update. I was thinking of fishing around the power lines tonight if we went. Should have been more crappies in those brush. Glad you made it out.

Thanks for sharing your trip and catch.
I know how you feel about crappie all over brush piles and cannot catch them sometimes.

It's not the numbers or the size, it's the time spent on the water!

Enjoyed the report and you still ended the day with a good catch after the slow start.

Charles, I am out of town with no internet except on my phone and it is spotty. I will post your picture when I get back to Lexington. It keeps hanging up when I try to post picture.

Put in around 3:00 on Friday with the wife and the dog. We stayed mostly from Windjammer back towards Nivens and didn't have much luck either. A couple small bass over brush. Moved out into open water right at sunset to fish a ledge. Within 5 minutes we were doubled up on cats. One pulled the hook straight before making it to the boat, the other was a throwback. As quickly as it started, it turned off again. Nothing came back to the table, but I can think of worse ways to spend a Friday afternoon.
