    Default Lake Tugalo

Anyone else fish Lake Tugalo? I'm new to the forum and have been going up there for years. Went last Sunday and only caught one decent size but usually do pretty good in the spring.

Welcome aboard. There are a few of the guys here that have fished the lake or do fish it. I have not been on the lake this year. I can say the winter bite the times I have fished it was tough.

Thanks! Winter is rough up there. Camping is pretty great there too if you like primitive, beautiful lake. I grew up fishing Greenwood, hard lake to beat for crappie.

Have you setup your yak for spider rigging or longlining. With the pedals it makes either one of this style of fishing very fun and can give you some great catching days to remember.
Greenwood is one of my favorite lakes in the cooler months to fish because there is a lot less traffic and a yaker can fish without being run over.

I have not but it's something I plan to do. Up to now I've usually jig fished during spawn and later used slip bobber rigs with minnows. The spider rig is definitely something I want to try.

I fished it a year ago and caught some very nice perch. I will say it is very difficult pulling a boat up the wet tar on the sc side leaving the landing, wouldve been bad if there was an oncoming car. Fishing wouldve been alot better if i had downriggers.

Yeah, it's pretty steep. I only haul a kayak so it's not too bad for me. Downriggers are the way to go for the walleye especially.

yeah pretty sure my back tires came off ground on the tight, steep "s" going up the single lane, luckily switched on 4wd quick. I was after the walleye, but wish i knew now what i didnt then. Couldve trolled inline spinners on 3 oz weight on planer boards at about 1-1.5 mph.

I've been chasing walleye up there for 5 years and still haven't caught one. A buddy caught one on a rapela ultralight sinking crank bait, I couldn't believe it. Haha. I haven't tried it in March yet but plan to next year, that's when the walleye go up to where the rivers dump in.
