Default HAPPY NEW YEARS!! Wateree 1-1-17 pic heavy

Rang in the new years right!! during the festivities, i served up my favorite dish. It should be a federal crime to overcook wahoo and tuna!!! Great times were had. I need to stay away from that "apple pie" if yall know what i mean!!

Now on to fishing.....Had a hard time rolling out of bed at 445 am thanks to that "apple pie" mentioned above. Checked the weather, and a few other things and made the desicion to go! Met up with buddy David and we were off. I made the comment that today was going to be a good day. I judge how good a day it will be on the basis of how quickly i can hook up my boat first thing in the morning solo. First try and i was off! (i cannot give credit to said "apple pie" mentioned above")!

on the water a bit after sunrise and we roll down the lake and find a small pocket of birds and fish rolling in the back of a cove. trolling motorless we ease in there and shut off motor and have fun for a little bit. put 6 in the boat in no time before they moved off. nice class of fish.

rolled to the next spot and struggled for a few. Ran some more and found the motherload working them up in a cut. made a pass with the trolling spread and got into a massive clustered mess that Thumper and Scooperdude would be proud to not be a part of!! about 45 min of fun then we spend another 10min of cutting/rerigging with fish still rolling all around.

by the time we straightened everything out, they worked their way out and that action was over. As we worked our way out of the cut, we zigged the same way the fish zagged and it was on again for 15 min. again nice class of fish. NEVER seen the depth finder so stacked up with fish.

picked away at them for a few before riding around some more later on in the afternoon and finally found one last large school out front from Colonel creek. picked up a few more good ones and were able to cull some of the smaller ones from the livewell to call it a day. Not a "banner day" by and streach, but not too bad. quality by far was great. ended up catching 25-30 and 1 12lb blue. All keepers over 20inches, a few pushing 26+. Put a lot of miles on the boat, but sometimes thats what it takes to find the fish. The white "shad" colored A-rig seemed to be the hot ticket for the day.

Several times during the day we commented how great it was on the water with the lack of boats on the water! didnt see the first boat on the water until after 10am.

Great start to 2017. Been giving a ton of fish away all winter from wateree, but this was my personal freezer filling trip for the season.

For anyone else that wants some rigs, I have 7 more left, then i am tied up for quite some time. Have a fresh batch being made up but cannot guarantee when they will be ready! First come first serve

Great pictures Pete. Glad you can get on them and stay with them to get your limits. You got everyone chomping at the bit to get down there. I know I'm ready to go just haven't had the time.
