When i bought my boat, the dealership carried yamaha and mercury. A good friend in mn loved his yamaha and no issues after 10 years. Mercury on the other hand, my cousin had bought a brand new mercury four stroke the summer before me and for no apparent reason would just shutoff, my parents mercury on their pontoon did the same after two summers only. The decision was simple for me and the yami has been great. I havent heard much about the suzukis but am seeing alot more of them on boats.

To me any of the Japan motors are good. I've ran Nissan/Tahatsu and Yamaha without any problems.

The reason I said make sure you know where there's a factory mechanics is before I put my Yamaha on my current boat it was on my sea pro and some how got water In the gas tank if under warranty the factory would not cover the cost of repair unless done by certified mechanics. Probably will not ever need a mechanic but we never know when some thing happens that we have no control over this repair was about $600.00
