Default Junk Fishing on a Breezy Santee 03-24/25

With the winds expected to blow, (and yes the did) I put the trolling equipment away, and grabbed the jig poles. Thursday, I went it alone, Friday Rooty Tooty (Tommy) joined me. No real game plan to was in order, we were to junk fish as I like to call it. Junk fishing generally means fish anything that looks like it may hold a fish. We caught them as deep as 20 feet, and as shallow as 1 1/2 foot. Structures that produced fish ranged from brush piles, grass, trees, logs, stake beds. Limit catches made both days, Thursdays catch consisted of majority black crappie, Friday a good mix of both black and white crappie. All fish caught on Rooty Tooty 309 jigs in a variety of color combos. No pics from Friday, here's a couple from Thursday.

Drove up on this lizard, he seemed entertained by me catching a couple of crappie from out of his home.

Another good report Tim. I thought those gators would be a bit more scarce with all those past legal hunting seasons er've had now. Congrats on the catches.

To be honest, you don't see many gators anymore. The hunting has put a hurt on them. The one pictured was an 8 footer, you rarely see any that size in open areas like you used to.
