    Just hook'em up!!

I kinda wondered the same thing Brett. I mean 12 volts is 12 volts. Must have something to do with the conditioning function or something unique to the AGM technology.

butch i use 2 onboard chargers, 2 banks each, one at the front and one at the back, each hooked up to two batteries parallel. i dont keep a charger on the cranking battery as i have nothing hooked to it but the motor and running lights. the motor keeps it charged. i use the 4 deep cycles for everything. longlining, drift fishing, and night stalking. i dont usualy have more than 3 fishing counting myself so nightstalking i use 3 led submersibles and three 60watt led lights each hooked to a small power converter so i can run 110 led lights to light up the interior.. been using this led set up and so far havent had a problem in the past couple years.

Here is why not, the AGM requires a higher voltage to make them charge thus the reason for changing setting in charger. Voltage set for Lead Acid and AGM never charges properly. Set forAGM then over time you continually over charge the Lead Acid and burn it up or warp the plates and it shorts out.

Kind of what I figured. Guess it is all or nothing on the AGMs. So far the lead acids have been more than adequate for me.

Thanks all for your help. Since I have a 40hp don't need a monster crank. I have a Crappie master 17.5 so does not take a lot to troll with. I have seen conflicting opinions about how far a wet cell should draw down. If I go with one 29 troll it will last me but it will draw more then half. Some say don't draw down that far stay above half. If so I would most likely need two. I keep my boat in garage so on-board charger not a must. Thinking about this one. Genius 15000
