I was on Murray Wednesday and Thursday and there is a ton of stuff floating. I saw several large trees, several large boards, limbs, etc. Like Stump says, go slow and keep your eyes peeled.
SCDNR has released a statement about our SC lakes. I have been on Hartwell and haven't seen anything floating in the water but we have had a ton of rain. Be careful out there girls and guys.

hmmm, wish I had time to go out and lasso some floating trees and sink some for some brush piles!
I went out to Santee on Friday to check the conditions. Let me tell ya, being the last lakes on the river chain means all the crap floats downhill. Islands of floating debris, trees, grass, limbs, household materials, docks that have been torn away from their supports. I seen a lot of everything! On a bright note, just prior to the flood the lake was 5 feet down and a bear to navigate on without hitting submerged stumps. Now it's at full pool with a ton of new habitat for the fish to relate to. For those who know the lake, the hatchery dam at the back of Jacks creek has been breached. There is now a 50 foot gap blown through it. It appears some pond dams may have burst upstream sending a wall of water into Jacks creek causing the breach. It will be a different lake when thing settle down. On a brighter note, I did manage to catch 6 crappie in the muddy flood waters.
