Ray, I’m jealous. That is the perfect swamp boat. I have a friend that has that same boat that he fishes 3 days a week in the swamp. Setting up front like that you can see all of the stumps and not hit them until you learn where they’re all at. That’s a super find. Can wait to see it.

I checked the manufacture date on the tires and they were 8 to 10 years old. I used his compressor to pump up the two on the trailer and he said "Don't forget the spare" . I told him they only had to go 2 miles to my tire dealer. I left his house and went straight to the store and put new tires on it. Then I changed the gas line and flushed out the tank and put ethanol-free super in it along with Seafoam. Took it to my mechanic this morning. Will see what he finds.
Yea those old tires will shred like they were in a paper shredder. About Ethanol? I have heard many tales, and many stories, yet have had no ill effects that I know about. My 40 Merc is a 2006 and has went fishing three times a week for 9 years and some days it long line trolls all day long as I use the main engine to troll with. I find the crappie hit just as well at a bit faster speed than poking along at .8 mph. After all they catch baitfish.............. I have many machines, chainsaws, stump grinder, big mowers, weed eaters, chippers, you name it and it is sitting somewhere around here. The only thing I know for sure was a cheap weed eater I bought at the flea market for 25 bucks. Ethanol ate up the gas line for sure, it was melted. I think that was simply because the manufacturer used some kind of something the dissolves in Ethanol. Other than that I have seen no problems. Now you do lose about 300 rpm versus real gas in a boat motor. That is a given fact. Less power. Even in the winter when boat motors run a bit better you still lose the rpm with Ethanol fuel. Well nuff of that, go catch a fish with your new toy. Cheers! Kit

I've been using airplane gas in my motor, 40 four stroke, for about a year now. It really runs better with it. 100 octane, $5.50 a gallon and I understand that airplane gas has to be stable for 1 years also. It's one of the requirements I'm told.. Love it. My equipment here at the house like it also.

Good looking boat Mr. Ray, I'm certain you will have it tricked out and ready to fish in no time.

Yes Tim. Last week at Santee, jumping up from the console every 2 minutes to move from one spot to the next convinced me to change. I had been thinking about it, but the rough water issue made me hesitate.
I decided to just be more attentive to weather conditions and go for it.
I am anxious to get it on the water. Hope to get it from the shop this week. I had then change the foot oil, check for seal leaks and replace water pump, etc.

When I get it running, maybe we can take it to Broadwater or down further if the water don't go down.
