See if this helps. You can zoom out on the map to see the motel you are staying at. It looks like you will be getting off I-85 at exit 173 at Lavonia

Can someone give some directions for the people coming down from Rock Hill and other parts of the state? I know we are coming in from Rock Hill on hwy 72 and staying at the Magnuson Hotel. I'd like to know in advance where we are going. There's going to be 2 other groups from Rock Hill staying at the same hotel and will need the short cut if any across the back roads to Lake Russell park. Any help is appreciated for all of us who have not been there before. Thanks!

Somehow that dont seem right Stumpy. They are coming from York/Rock Hill on S.C. 72. All the way in from Chester. Think it it Georgia 77 out of Elberton to Ruckersville Rd. Then right to State P ark I think. Least that is the way I usually come over.. Help me I get lost easy.
From the hotel go back into town (go past Walmart and keep going) until you get to Walgreens (on the right side of the road). Take a right onto Hwy 77 N right there. In less than a mile you will pass a church on the right then a big cemetary. Right past that is Blazers. Just a little farther you will pass some rental storage buildings on the right and then there is Ruckersville Rd on the right. Take that right and follow that road 7 or 8 miles and it'll take you to the park entrance. Total time from hotel probably 15 to 20 minutes ride.
Once entering the park instead of riding around the toll booth you will need to turn into the small parking lot at the main entrance building on the right to get your daily pass which I believe costs $5. Right there is the only place you can purchase one. There are none in the boat ramp parking lots.
Hope this helps.
