    Default White Perch Lake Murray

Friends from out of state came and visited, three of us went fishing, week before last. We went to one place
that someone told me their were WP, went in 18ft of water and sure enough the bite was on and caught 13 their
was some wind (ended up in 30ftw) and it was very hard to stay on location, the next day we went again and again the bite was on, this time I had two poles (one pole with minnow and the other one with jig with a plastic reel in a rod holder) and my two friends had just one pole each. At one time all of us had a fish on, caught them, and put them on the boat, while i was taking off my WP I heard my other pole go CRACK, my reel broke their goes my pole and reel in the water, I set my drag to high and their goes my pole luckily the butt end of my pole was cork and it stayed up at the top of the water so their i was chasing my pole finally caught it and brought in the fourth WP. Its funny now but then it wasn't, ended up with another 13 WP. That jig didn't get a bite all day until that time that my reel broke, so that tells me that we mus ta passed threw them, and my dept finder was lite up with fish on the bottom I know that we could have caught a lot more, but with the wind we couldn't stay on location. But every one had fun and a few laugh's
    Mat

The fun and laughs is what it's all about. Sounds like enough fish caught for a fish fry too. Congrats.

Matt, that is one of the reasons I bought an I-Pilot. We would get into a bunch and by the time we got them in we had drifted way off the spot. With the spot lock feature all you do is hit the button when you start catching them and it will hold you right there. I had fished earlier with Butch (GaBowman) from his boat and saw how he could control the boat while long lining 16 rods out the back and I knew I had to have one. Maybe Santa can bring you one.

Ok well sometimes it does not work like I described. Last time we were up there we hit a school of perch and we had 5 rods with fish on. My buddy hit the spot lock and we had maybe 3 more rods get hits. In probably 5 minutes we had a dozen fish and then nothing. We sat there for 15 minutes wondering what happened. Only thing I can guess is they travel in schools and we hit one headed in or out of the cove and when they passed through we were fishing dead water.
Did not know you had gotten the I-Pilot, man you went all out didn't you? I really like mine, it made boat handling a lot easier, especially if you are by yourself.
