Do most of you set you sensitivity on high or low to help you see the arches. I've always had trouble seeing them, until I set the sensitivity on high and then I got these. Caught some nice crappie from this spot..
Kinda gets ya excited dont it..... Fish are knotted up like that in the mouth of camp creek too... I think its time to blow the dust off the 6500's, and give the crappie a lil' breaky! If you see a 24ft StarCraft tri-toon with a full inclosure and a honda 140 on it...I am prolly in it with the Mr. Heater burnin full blast waitin for the bait clicks to start screamin!

I always leave my sensitivity on auto. When the boat motor runs at high speeds the sens. turns itself down and when I slow or stop it goes back to nearly 100%.

i keep mine on manual to meet the conditions for that particular day.
listen with your eyes---its the only way to beleive what you hear...
Rango, would you mind elaborating. In what case would you change your sensitivity? I always leave mine set the same.

I change my unit to fit the day also. If it's a day after a hard rain there will be debris in the water and the DF will pick it up. You can lower the sensitivity to help for the day. When fishing around trees I will lower it or in open water I will raise the sensitivity.
Rango will reply to your question as soon as he sees it.

thats the way we do it too when you got it right you can see your jig in the water as you are working it. and you will watch the fish Shrek out of the trees to take your bait .

Here are a few images from my new toy. Anytime I got in 30+ ft of water, I had a colored section around the 30ft mark. I am guessing this was the thermocline, but I was in one area where this colored section was around the 18ft mark. I am still learning the unit, so all advice and interpretations are welcome.
Now I'm jealous. We gonna outlaw those DI SI units at all our get togethers/tourneys. That's not fair.
J/K I'd LOVE having a toy like that to play with. It wont be long and you'll be able to tell all of us where the fish are, how deep they are, and what color jigs they prefer. Congrats. Keep posting those pictures. Theyre real neat to look at and see what the REAL stuff underwater looks like.

Almost certainly thermocline in that first one. Good shots.
