Thread: Worms in the Crappie !!!

I researched this and the verdict is the same in nearly all states that have crappie. The worms are parasites, they are harmless to humans and are quite common. Most say to remove the worm and cook the fish until well done.

Lucky for me but I aint never heard of anyone finding any worms in the fish from Russell or Clark Hill lakes. It seems you cannot tell until you fillet 'em. Should I ever find any then those will be the fillets I give away.:D

Now Boys, lets don't get all upset about about a little old worm. Just remember the fish eat worms and they digest them so the worms are only coming back out to give a better protein and taste.:D:rolleyes:

Well, that's just my luck! I went from filleting my fish to scaling and leaving the skin on because my wife and I think they taste better. I just put a big catch of crappie from Greenwood in the freezer. Oh well, I will check them when I thaw them and I usually cook mine thoroughly.

I have been cleaning a good many from G-wood and eating some....I haven't noticed it yet, but thanks for telling us, I am going to look harder next time. Anytime I clean a fish I always cut the so called butt hole out of them b/c that's where the parasites would be if there are any (or that's how I have been told).

unless somehow some little worm eggs survive the cooking process,
well, then you got worms.

well alls i can say is this south carolina country boy aint knowingly eating anything thats toting worms. no way shape form or fashion
