Clark Hill 2/26
I had a very pleasant surprise last night when my daughter, Amy, asked if she could fish with me today. Nothing suited me more even knowing it wasnt going to be an all day trip since she had plans for the afternoon/evening hours. She actually beat me out of bed this morning and was getting ready when I got up. Talking about a surprise! Most of those school kids DONT do morning hours very often.
Anyway, we were met at the boat ramp this morning by our very own Barry and GaSlabman and some other friends I knew...we all said our quick howdy-dos and each went on their way.
For me and Amy we found fishing considerably slower than it had been for me this past week. I dont know if the wind yesterday had the fish spooked or whether they just had lockjaw. I marked alot of fish but wasnt too many takers.:o
Anyway, we did manage to catch atleast some at the 4 different places we moved to and fished. The fish ranged in size from dinks to about half of the catch being good solid 3/4 to 1 lb 12"+_ fish. Amy seemed to enjoy herself, even though it wasnt a fast and furious morning, but she's fished enough to have seen worse. And for me, I totally enjoyed her company and only wished life for her was simplier and we could do what we did today alot more often.:o
One of the highlites of the morning was a hybrid that looked to weigh around 5 lbs on her line on a 8' rod. She handled it like a pro all the way to the boat even though it was wrapped in a couple other lines. I tried netting it with the only net I had...my crappie net...about the time the fish swirled causing a missed net job and that's when the fish took a dive and the hook pulled free. I hated we never got that fish boated cause I'da loved having a picture of her with that fish but there will be other trips and other fish to photograph with her I guess.:o
We fished from daylight to 12:30 today and caught 35 crappie and a few white perch. And almost a nice hybrid.:o Here's some pictures of a few the fish we caught today. All fish were released to catch another day.
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.
