Do yall think it helps this time of year to tip your jigs with minnows or does it matter?

If I was slow trolling (spider rigging), tightlining, or drifting I'd definitely use meat. But with longlining I dont think there's any benefit.

I'm not sure. I have had times last spring where they won't bite a jig without a minnow and other times it didn't matter. I do believe each lake is different. On G'wood I have great luck with road runner heads tipped with a minnow and on the Hill a regular head without a minnow will out catch a RR 5 to 1 on the Ga side and a jig tipped does best on Little River. Hartwell I caught most my fish using a RR jigs with a minnow and Russell I use a regular head jig with or without a minnow.

I'm only set up for spider rigging,95% of the time I use RR Heads with curly tails I didn't know if it helped this time of year or if it would interfere with my tail action.

I use a minnow head jig with a twister tail and always tip with a live minnow for both spider rig and long line.

I always tip some rigs with minnows, but it also has to do with the lake your fishing on, some lake longlining is still working other they've bunched up in channels and spider rigging is about only way to go.
    If you don't get hung every-once-n-a-while you ain't jigg'n it right..:D

I believe that is what he is saying. When we push/tightline I always have atleast one RR in there with nothing but a minnow on it. Somedays it catches all the fish, somedays it catches as much as anything, somedays it catches nothing and somedays only the big fish. All depends on what they want that day.
