    Default 25 Sep Hill report

Great morning to be on the water for sure. Arrive at the ramp to see gfox putting in that big Ranger Fisherman, very nice ride. He and I worked out a plan to find some slabs, of course plan didnt work out that well. I caught about 10 longlining but they were all real nice. When the sun popped out the crappie went straight for the brush. So I had some new jigs Soldierman gave me and well.....it was on. I single pole jigged on top of brush for about an hour and caught some hammers. I havent fished like that for many years, good to know I still got the touch. Had to be touching the brush with the jig to get a bite. The fish are on the move so I predict the next 4 days will be the best days to go. Caught fish from 16 to 22 FOT, baitfish was on top in schools. Caught alot of green carp also. Fun to throw a 3lb bass back with the bass tourney guys watching

Di, I found the same thing happening last week. After the sun has been up for a while they head for the brush. I caught some fish by pushing poles just over the tops of the bush. Got hung up alot but was the only way I could catch them later in the morning. Glade you had a great day.

Glad to hear you found em biting. It's hard to fish the brush when the crappie are not wanting to come out and take your bait but good to hear you caught some. I do enjoy catching the bass when there is a tourney going on.
Hope the cool air and rain is still coming. I looked awhile ago and it's 91 here and not a cloud in the sky..

D.I., from your report sounds like longlining might be good if the cloud cover sticks around for awhile. Some times you just have to switch up how youre fishing and it looks like you figured 'em out today. Congrats on the catch.

congrats on a nice catch, Derek. Hope this rain will drop the water temps a little more....as far as the green carp goes, I love to drop 'em in the floor of the boat before I put 'em in the cooler when there's a bass boat nearby. That always stirs 'em up.
