Default Andrew Jackson State Park 7/14

Well whiskerwhipper and I wanted to go somewhere not too far from home and still be able to catch some fish. We didnt weant the hassle of his jonboat and didnt want to bank fish. I suggested the idea of using yaks/canoes to fish AJ. He said alright and we were off. Had to stop by the Wally World in Rock Hill to get me a SC Freshwater Lisence. Dang people didnt have their stuff together. Took AN HOUR for em to figure out how to work the SC DNR machine there, and to get everything printed. My dang SS# wouldnt read for some reason, but it did eventually. One hour, $35, and 2 patience's later, we hit the water. I was in my pop's Old Town Pack canoe, a one man 10'er. Whiskerwhipper was in his Sit on top 9' yak. My set up was a 7'UL with a lil rattle trap, and a 6'ML with a gulp jig. Whipper caught a bass right off the bat on gulp. I wasnt really concerned about catching too many fish, so I spent alot of time just paddling around. I ended up catching 1 bass on the rattletrap in 8' of water. (My depthfinder was my brick anchor with 12' of parachute cord.:D) Whipper ended up catching 3 or 4 bass, and a fiesty bream. I think all his fish were caught on gulp jigs. It was a good day but a hot day. All fish were released. Better luck next time Pic is whipper with his bream.

Sounds like a fun trip fish or not. I won't get a license at WalMart. No way. Dicks Sporting Goods or a small B&T shop that has internet to do it with for me. Gonna do it online next year to save the hassle.

Seeings as I'm a little "top heavy":D I could NEVER fish outa one of those things. I'd spend all day trying to keep it upright instead of upside down. Much less have time to fish!:D:D Looks like you and whipper finished up catching some fish and you guys had fun doing it. That's what it's all about anyway. Congrats.

They didn't used to let you put in your own yaks at AJ.
I supposed they were trying to force people into their Jon boats.
    Glad they changed their policy.
I'll have to head over and give it another try sometime.

GABowman, I'm top heavy too, but I can't think of a way I'd rather fish. My boats been parked for several years now and I spend most my time yaking. Modern kayaks are pretty stable, with many designed just for fishing.
    John 21:3
Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We are going with you also." They went out and immediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing.

And we act like this Nightstalking thing is new.

For some excitment, read the next verse. A special guest arrived, they filled their coolers and had a fish fry on the beach...in the morning. My kind of people.- Bowfin
