This past Sunday I witnessed one of the weirdest fish to be ever caught off a crappie pole come in the boat! It took my cousin 10-15 minutes to boat this 10 lb mudfish (bowfin), but he got him in! Rango would be proud to know that this fish was caught on a 9ft UGLY STICK crappie rod! I don't know how those teeth didn't fray the 4 lb test line or how he didn't straighten out the light wire crappie hook, but he didn't! This is the third bowfin we've caught. The first two were while bass fishing and they both hit a floating worm. One of them stripped the gears out my dad's baitcaster. Those are some bad fish.... strong as an ox!
