    Default Ethernetting 2 HB units

I have a HB 859 di unit with gps on the bow and a HB 899 di hd si unit on the console and they are ethernetted together.

It seems that the console 899 unit does not pick up all the waypoints that I mark with the 859 while spidder rigging. But, I don't usually leave the 899 unit on when I am actually fishing.

Do both units have to be turned on for marked waypoints to show on both units? If not, what might be causing waypoints not to show up on both units- besides the cable not being connected tightly between the units.

    Thx

Waypoint sharing is a menu option you can toggle on or off. I cant remember if it is under setup or ethernet menu but you should be able to find it. Make sure it is turned on for both units.

The Waypoint Sharing selection is under the Networking tab in the Main Menu System ...

The 899 unit would have to be powered on to share the waypoints. The waypoints are written to the other unit via Ethernet .... they are shared.
You can export the waypoints from 1 unit and bring them in to the other. The best way to do that is by using Humminbird PC to examine and merge them first to make sure there are no duplicates.

Thanks for the info. I rarely leave the 899 on the console running when I am fishing- since I can't see it from the bow- so that must be why I am not seeing marked waypoints on the 859 show up on the 899..

When leaving the console unit on I just turn off the sonar feature so GPS and maps are still on. So the transducers don't interfere with each other.

    Can you link a 899 to a helix 9?

Is the helix 7 GN2 better than the 899 as far as pictuer and locating fish.
