    Default Width of water column

If I'm in 20' of water what is the width (side to side) of the bottom of lake shown in water column? When looking for crappie I find it a lot harder to see crappie in side image compared to the water column. Is their a way to adjust for this?

The water column is "everything within a semi-circle equal to (or less than) the water depth" ...

So in your scenario of 20ft water depth = everything that is less than 20ft from the xducer will be shown in the water column ... then use the target shadow to help your mind's eye visualize how high off the bottom that target is ...

Rickie, does the DI width setting have any effect on this or is this just how SI is displayed regardless?

The DI Width setting only applies to HB SI units (excluding ONIX SI and HELIX G2N Mega SI) ...

We know the DI image in the HB SI unit is computer generated from the data received in the SI piezoes - simply because there is no DI piezo in the HB SI xducer ...

The DI Width setting does not change any beam angle or kHz choice from the current selected choices = it's merely telling the unit how much
    of the total SI data
to be displayed into the computer generated DI image ...

*DI Width Narrow tells the unit to display only those echoes "common" in the left and right SI beams = basically the overlap of the 2 separate SI beams under the boat ...
*DI Width Wide tells the unit to display "all" echoes in the left and right SI beams = basically everything that also shows in the SI image ...
*DI Width Medium is somewhere in between ...
