North up is ok if moving north. Any other directions get confusing to me. I use heading up,you are always pointed to the top of screen.

Definitely heading up!!!! I cant find myself any other way! My units settings got switched somehow one time and it took me forever to figure out what the heck was going on hahahaha! Was frustrating at first and then hilarious afterwards when I figured out what was going on. To make things worse is...I was showing someone how to use my unit because they were interested in buyng one like it. Im not sure if I helped or hurt that hahahahaha
Good info so far guys ...but
The quiz is to define each setting and what effect that setting does to the chart ...

If there's a tide on or cross wind, then course would be best because heading would not adjust. (I think that's right, but not for sure).

I use heading up, my understanding if you are navigating to waypoints use course up. North up is well north up, heading up is the direction the boat is pointing up and course up is if you are navigating (in navigation mode) to a waypoint the line to the waypoint will be up.

North up- north is always at the top of the screen.
Heading up- direction boat is pointed is always at top of screen.
Course up- direction of travel is always at top of screen. If boat was pointed north but drifting east map would have east up.
