It is not uncommon for the higher end units to pick up stray interference more than the smaller units ... They're just that much more sensitive ...

I would 1st remove the xducer from the TM and test it on the other side of the boat away from the TM ...

If the interference goes away ... We know the interference is getting in thru the xducer housing or the cable close to the xducer housing ...

Once we determine if this is the case ... We will have a path forward to hopefully eliminate the issue and make your 859 the unit you expect it to be ...

Everyone has been telling me that it was just a plug and play so to speak from old 597ci hd di to this new unit so i am using the same power cable and transducer that came with the 597. Powered the unit up it passed self test and everything. Have been hearing a lot about trolling motor interference so i wanted to check and see if I had any. So I dropped the Xi5 and hit the prop button and let me tell you it was like the 4th of July :bang head. Trolling motor interference in a big way. This was never an issue with my 597 even with the 597 snd my 999 running at the same time I never had any type of interference. The noise filter on the unit is on high 3 and it helped the 2d image so but not at all for the DI image. So I took it to the lake anyway thinking well at least I could still see my brush in 2d and it is a new unit so I wanted to play around with it. 1st spot on my 999 where I known there is brush because it is a DNR brush pile. Brush shows up as all way drop marker moved to the front trun on the 859 and nothing I could just make out the bottom Picture looked like well you know the 4 letter word. Even turned off the 999 to make sure there was no cross talk. I am very disappointed in this unit at this point. If I can not get it fixed I will be going back to my old 597 and someone will have them a 859 with 5hrs on it. I know this is a lengthy explanation but someone please help!!!!!!
rf. noise can be really be a pain to get figured out.u can fix your issue tho..ive run the 597hd/di unit, with transducer mounted on motorguide digital tour with very good results and now have an onix10 with transducer mounted on an motorguide xi5 and still get good results.i use no chokes / ferrite rings.i do have skeg grounded tho.(Humminbird makes a trolling motor choke that some say works).I don't think there's anything wrong with your unit. Those filter settings, u mentioned. I've never had much luck with them. For me, the answer was sending the noise to ground in the water.good luck with your units.(u can stop the rf.) Keep in touch with rickie,he'll help get u going☺☺☺

Rickie did just as u stated. Took the transducer off of the foot of the trolling motor as far as I could. Turned on the unit and the Xi5 the prop was moving very slowly. And wouldn't you know it no interference I could even put it as close as a 1/4 of an inch to the trolling motor foot with no interference but as so as I touch it to the trolling motor foot it lights up like a Christmas tree. Tried it with the 859's noise filter on off and high 3

Haven't some people had luck putting a piece of rubber between the TM and the transducer to keep them separate?

When u say rubber what type are we speaking off. Because I did see that and went out and bought a bike inner tube cut it to size no good still there. Did I mention that I have a transducer shield and saver for the transducer.

This is indication that the interference is definately getting in the xducer or its cable ... (so the HB unit power wire fixes may not be necessary) ...

Inspect the xducer very carefully for nicks that could allow RFI an easy access in the cable ...

*Grounding the TM skeg to the HB unit negative cable is one possible fix ...
*Adding a ferrite ring on the xducer cable right before the head unit might arrest the RFI before it gets to the head unit ...

I suggest calling HB with the information you have about your confirmed test and see what steps they suggest ...

It would be nice if that were true, but I haven't heard of it before.
