This is 30 degrees apart. I'd think if you are getting interference with beams 90 degrees apart, you'd experience the same with beams 30 degrees apart.
You are probably correct here Stymie...

This is most likely one of those "proprietary" things that we may never know how Lowrance manages interference in this SpotlightScan technology...

Found this in the link kosmo provided...

It explains more of what the sensor in the foot pedal does...

Lowrance Releases New SpotlightScan and SonarHub « Wired2Fish

    QUOTE:....(in part)

Lowrance unveiled two new products for 2014 at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. The first will pique the interest of anglers who fish from the bow with a cable steer trolling motor with a new transducer and functionality called SpotlightScan. SpotlightScan gives the angler the ability to scan outward with a sweep of the trolling motor head.

The onscreen guide lines on the SpotlightScan show white when you’re sweeping at a good speed and red when you’re sweeping too fast to ensure you’re getting a good picture. The best part we saw is that anglers already using the Lowrance HDS Touch units, can just install the new transducer and plug and play. The new transducer does Sonar, StructureScan, DownScan and now SpotlightScan. Truly enabling you to see fish and cover all around you under the surface at an affordable price point and it works with both Minn Kota and MotorGuide trolling motors.

    UNQUOTE:

Sounds like the sensor inputs foot pedal speed to the processor so that the the color of the beams (white vs red) on the display show the user the optimum "manual" sweep speed...

It seems like this is much like HB's "unofficial" statement of boat speed/chart speed ratio gives optimum SI images ...the SpotlightScan will also require an "optimum" beam sweep speed/display data update speed ratio...to garner satisfactory images...

It remains to be seen if the user will have control of the display data update speed for adjustability to maybe..."sweep the TM faster with a higher display data update speed"....(similar to HB's "Chart Speed" user control allows faster boat speed scanning with a higher SI "Chart Speed" setting and still get satisfactory images)...

I'd like to be able to try this new system, since I have a touch unit, but I'm not likely to give up my Terrova for it.

Hmm. Foot pedal accelerometer. I can still make it work with my Terrova. Good challenge if I decide to get one. Not sold on any new stuff 'til I see it work. Someone buy one so I can come look.

Cane Pole with Rickie,s transducer bracket ,will be no problem for you to make,I think even I could do that so I know it will be a piece of cake for you.

Cane Pole, as I think about it ,it would be better on a bracket like Rickie makes because that way you could come up to the right movement speed whereas with your foot speed of turning would be hard to control each time even with color to guide you and movement would not be as smooth,IMO. Of course opinion can be bought a dime a dozen, good ones would cost a little more,LOL.

My guess is they will get better clarity than the 360, but less coverage......kind of like their structure scan now.
