Just bought a 587 HD DI COMBO today, if I can get half of the clarity as the one in this post I will be happy as a lark.
Screenshots from my old HDS Gen 2.

I haven't read all the replies but my Lowrance has just as good of quality or better than the images shown on the box and advertisement. My side imaging is so good that I can actually see bream/shellcracker beds when the unit is set to 455kz..........I have pictures to prove this, and pictures of the fish that came from them. I think a lot of it has to do with speed of the boat, condition of the water you are in, user settings, and knowledge of how to adjust the unit for different conditions. Everyone doesn't get the same results because they are not in the same boat, on the same lake, going the same speed, with the transducer set in the same place.............I don't think they are false advertising at all, those images can be achieved under the right conditions with the right person using it.

Yes, i am having problems, may have bought more technology then I know what to do with. I need to find out how to setup the basics. About ten more trips to the lake and I might get it right.
Chances are that the clarity you see in some of these pictures that are posted, are maybe one or two of fifty or more screen shots. Lots of variables to give you a less than perfect screen shot. You will get those great shots yourself, but surely not all the time.
