I bought a 1 lb bottle of ProTec from TJ’s Tackle when I started and still have most of it. It’s rather expensive but I mix it with most other colors to thin them to last a little longer and help them flow better. I also think it helps color some. I’m not 100% sure if the brand really matters but I do know there are better values of other clear available.
I might try the clear on Ebay. BIG difference in price between TJ's Tackle and here. Unless somebody tells me different (poor quality or whatever). What say ya?!?

I buy the clear high gloss from Rosie's. I paid about $25 for a lb. a couple years ago. I use it as a base when I am mixing my custom colors or if a color is getting low I add a spoon full. Good stuff.

Rosies, powder by the pound, Eastwood and Columbia coatings. If you ever try to do any mixing you'll go through a lot of it.
I have a bottle of Protec also

Mixing clear with harbor freight colors works wonders! You'll notice certain colors are thinker in texture when applying. That's when you mix the clear with that thicker color. It will help the powder paint flow better in the fluidbeds and apply thinner coats to jig head. If you don't use fluid beds you'll still benefit from it.

I decided for now that I will skip the clear. I only plan on painting up to a couple hundred (or less) each year and with 6 different colors I shouldnt be giving out of paint very soon. Besides, at TJ's Tackle you can buy a 2 oz container of paint for $3.75 and up to $20 worth you only have to pay $5 shipping. Later on if I find the paint just isnt flowing like expected then I'll look closer into buying some clear to mix with it. Thanks for all you guys help so far. I think I'm on my way now.
