    Default WEY375 Wire Alternative

I have come across the perfect solution. The wife and I was in Hobby Lobby the other day and I came across a pair of "1 Step Looping" pliers. You can get them in a couple different sizes, but I got a pair of the 1.5mm. I did a trial of a few yesterday out of paper clip wire both regular and jumbo paper clips. I think you all will be impressed. I will try to figure out how to post a couple pictures in the mold before the pour and after. This set of pliers loops and cuts the wire to length at the same time. Going to also try a comparable Stainless Steel wire the size if standard paper clip.

You can see a demo video of it at
    beadsmith.com

Click on pliers then 1-step looper then 1.5mm video.

Yeah I stumbled across these at Hobby Lobby too a couple months ago and sent JW some pics. I didn't think of them for a replacement for the herring insert but thought they would've been nice for a underspin mold I crafted a while back. Have to get me a pair now as I have a ton of stainless wire I used to bend for my earlier underspin design.

Another thing you might want to check out are the "Spotnail chisle point upolstry staple". They have a 3/8 inch crown and 1/8 inch legs. I made a jig to go on my vise that will straighten the one side of the staple and the you use a hammer to bend the other side while it is in the jig. You can get a box of 10,000 for around $6.

Size: 33.8 KBI think so, but I'm going to try some either .24 or .30 Stainless. I saw a reference on some web site of "soft stainless steel wire" so that is what I'm hoping to come across. I think about a .24 would be the size of the standard size paper clip I used in this trial. And it is tight also....there is another loop on the inside of the jig head as well. It will not pull out
