Default Do-It Round Head Jig with Wire Holder

Anyone using the Do-It Round Head Jig with Wire Holder Molds (3506 or 3507)?

I haven't bought any molds yet and when I saw these I wondered if I can use them for two purposes - for tying jigs (without the wire holder) and for plastics.

Has anyone tried to leave out the wire holder and see how much flash is created?

Can these work with Sickle Hooks?

After all that I've read, I think I would like to try the Eagle Claw Lil' Nasty or whatever it's official name is. However, I have searched the Eagle Claw website and cannot find such an animal.

I've not tried the mold, but I can't imagine the flash would be a deal breaker.

On the Lil' Nasty-- Go to Barlow's; they stock the hook at a pretty good price.

I have not used that mold but guys say you can do what your asking about with very little flash.
The Lille nasty should drop right in there.

My molds arrived today from Zeiner's. Lil Nasty hooks arrived today as well. The mold cavity seems a little rough and considering trying to polish it.

You can tell that Do-It molds are made from a casting and not machined, but the price was good!

It's a little tricky loading both the hook and the bait keeper wire, but I'm getting a little faster at it.

I am thinking it might be helpful to lay the mold across an electric hot plate while trimming gates and reloading hooks and keepers. That way the mold can stay heated pretty well.

I may get brave and modify the larger size mold to be able to accept larger hooks (like 1 or 1/0), but I think I will wait a few days before trying to tweak my brand new molds.

Now you are hooked. I have modded a lot of molds. I use dentist bits I get from my dentist.I put the hook in then the wire and you are right it gets easier . The hotter the mold the harder to lay the hooks and wires in. I powder paint my heads and the roughness helps the paint.

How do you remove the jig from the sprue/gate? I've searched all over the internet looking for curved cutters/trimmers that would cleanly remove it in one step but can't find anything like that out there.

Maybe I need to design my own and then market them?

Mr Jackie, I noticed your home lake is Greers. I moved to Batesville a few years back with a job relication. Wondering if you would be willing to meet up sometime when you are pouring the under spin jigs or let me give you a phone call sometime to pick your brain for experience before I spend money on stuff I don't need right now.

I am just starting to get the pouring "Bug" with my wife's blessing which makes me Happy Happy Happy😎

    Thanks in advance.
