Default Looking for a supplier for soft lead

I was wondering where I find a good supplier of soft lead that won't break my piggy bank. I have bought off ebay with mixed results and finding lead at the scrap yard around here is really hit and miss. I'm looking for a couple hundred pounds. Thanks in advance for the help.

Or get to know a roofer that does residential re-roofs. The pipe shrouds are pure and they replace them regularly. You would have to clean them but it works for me.

The seller "jaystone707" on ebay has excellent lead and service, works out to about $2.50 per lb and is very soft. Unfortunately they had a death in the family and usually close in the winter anyway; so they have been closed for a few months.

Also telephone repair guys, black powder cartridge shooters. The black powder guys will have a line on pure lead at reasonable prices.

Make friends with local plumbers. I have a couple guys that are happy with a case of beer for 60lbs of scrap lead. They give me a call about once a year

I was in the same boat as you couldn't find any lead locally. Finally found a tire place not the major stores but a smaller one that had buckets of lead wheel weights. Bought 100# for $15. Did have to melt it down into ingots. After all the melting and removing slag I ended up with 78# for the little I paid for it. The shop that had the weights just didn't want to waste time to take the lead to scrap dealer.
