I haven't poured anything since June & as I was rigging a few round head, 1/16oz jigs to some new plastic baits I just got, I realized I was completely out of 1/16oz round head jigs with #4 sickles. Guess I'll be heating up the Lee this week! I'm still on the lookout for a production mold that'll do 4 each, 1/8oz & either 3/16oz or even 1/4oz round head no collar jigs if anyone runs across one.

Nothing fancy, just round ball 16, 32nd, 64th and 80th ounce on bronze and gold eagle claw 570s, I will post pics of the finished ties!

The only problem with this mold is it only has one cavity for each of the above sizes...that means it takes a lot of pours to get many 64 and 80th oz jigs.

Default Keeping hooks in mold while closing question

I haven't even bought or poured a mold yet (but soon). I had already considered how to avoid issues loading hooks.

Has anyone tried drilling a hole in the "bottom" half of the mold beneath the hook area and installing small round rare-earth magnets?

I am going to experiment with thin pcs of aluminum to see how thick it can be and still have enough force to hold a hook in place.

I've never had a problem with keeping hooks in place! I just lay them in place on the left half of the mold and close slowly keeping left half flat on the table!!
