    Default Candy Red Holo Glitter

They turned out great and I won't need to do a clear coat for the glitter thankfully.

Top ones are 12:1 PP to glitter, bottom are 6:1

The 6:1 seems to be way too much for my taste and there is a lot of glitter that is on the surface and could knick the line.
The holographic effect shows through the Candy red perfectly even with glitter that seems to be deeper in the paint.

These were done using a toaster over to heat the jigs and then dipped in a 2" fluid bed cup.

I think that as long as the glitter is a contrasting color and not too close to the original PP color that adding it to the candy colors should work fine with most of them, when using a fluid bed. Dipping in a cup or container may not work as well because of how thich the paint could go on.

They look good. I like the top jigs best, looks like the glitter mixed well with the 12-1 mix. I have good luck dipping into the paint with glitter mix but I keep it mixed well so it don't compact. Thanks for posting the pics.

Looks good, I know I'm probably anal about this but my eyes have to be totally clear, before I cure them.

Also have played with how you dip with glitter in a fluid bed. I have seen a difference if you dip parallel or vertical. I prefer the parallel.....better distribution. Give it a try

Parallel? You mean the jig laying like it would when your fishing it? Not sure I want to do that because I don't want that much of the hook with paint on it. But maybe able to do it at and angle instead of upright. Maybe a 45 angle or something.

The jigs were just practice to see what glitter amounts worked best. I usualy clean the eyes better but I can never get them completely clean. Any tips on that? I can grab them by the eye so not as much gets on them but dipping will be a pain. Trying to set them in the toaster oven so I can grab them right to dip them grabbing the eye is not easy. The jigs I will be painting won't be much easier but could be if they will set up so I can grab them and have the jig kinda upright.

Even when I grabbed them by the eyes of the hooks I never had them completely clean. I have tried scraping it off with plier and a knife but haven't found a really good way to clean it completely yet.

Yes....different angles on how you dip will distribute the glitter in a different pattern. After the double dip I use a piece of wire and push threw the hole before I put on hanging rack. Clean majority of material out. After completing the jig and still note a little paint I have needles based on size of hole and clamp needle in vice heat and push the jig eye threw the warm needle. Use a micro torch to quickly heat up the needle. If you clean out with small piece of wire after the double dip generally do not have issue. You are thinking where did I get the wire......JoAnn fabric in jewelry dept. They have wire to make bracelets in all different sizes. I took my jig hooks with me! Just my thoughts. A lot of guys with a lot of different ideas. I have poured and painted this winter and spring about 4000 jigs (lot of rain days this spring!!!).

If you are not wanting to heat a wire and take a chance on messing up your finish try getting a letter size drill bit that will fit thru the eye and twist it by hand. "DO not use a battery dril"

Actuall I liked the lower jigs the best.

It tiruned out not to be anissue. Heatingn them in the toaster over and then dipping made it easy to remove small amount of paint that stuck to the eyes and then ream out the rest with a spinner wire. The eyes came perfectly clean. Cleaner than they ever have when holding the eye with hemostats, heating over a flame and then dipping.

As for different angles changing glitter distibution, that has never been more evident than when I started painting the shad dart heads. If I don't match the exact angle every time the glitter disperses differently. Not to mention if I don't get it right the top barely coats at all with PP.

Also, even with a fluid bed the glitter has a tendency to get stuck toward the sides so a little shake of the fluid bed helps keep the glitter running smooth.
