Default My vacation on Kentucky lake

Went down to Ky lake to relax and do some crappie fishing last weekend. Stayed 5 days, fished 4. Sunday i went out of the Jonathon creek area and drifted the Ruff bay shallows. Was using a glowhead jig that i got from jigtwins a couple seasons ago, under a bobber, 4ft down in 7ft water. Tipped with minnow or nibble and had a pretty good day.

Monday i fished with Mr Dux from the kentucky board. Really good guy and even better fisherman. We long line trolled in the top end of the lake where i'd never fished before and hammered the crappies and stripes. We caught and released well over a hundred fish. We finished with 27 crappies and 22 stripes. Bigbaddad stopped us and talked for a while as he had to get to work so he gave us 5 more crappies. I even caught a couple doubles that day. I cleaned them all and shared them with the managers at the Early American motel where i was staying.

Tuesday i fished midlake and had a good day on the bigger slabs. I fished deeper water and found some big prespawn females and some big males too. I hang glided brushpiles in 10 to 18ft with a 1/8th roadrunner and w/green twistertail and pulled 14 keepers. Used my old gps marks to find those fish.

Wednesday i went back to the same area and found a huge brushpile in 22ft and took a limit of crappies before 11 oclock. I cast 1/8oz plain heads with crawdad colored bodies and red/green worked too. I started catching a lot of small fish so i went to a swimbait that a friend from ohio, big joshy, makes and pulled some of the bigger fish of the day with them. Took some pics with my 1197 to kill some time.

All in all it was one of the best trips i've taken that i can remember. Here's what i brought home.

Looking forward to my trip next month with my brother and best friend.

Nice to hit good fish on different water.
    Way to go!
If you ever get hit with a bucket of fish, be sure to close your eyes.

chaunc, I had a ball fishing with you. I have a bunch of friends from my time at taxidermy school in PA and can now say I have another. There is no doubt that your knowledge of crappie fishing PA translates well to west KY. Look forward to seeing you next month.

I really miss my shirt that went down with Mitch's boat last july. That was my favorite fishing shirt. Tell me where to order a new one and i'll put the order in myself.
