Nice! I love hearing storys like that. Good job getting him started Dad. I
hope you got a few pics for him to look back on a few years from now.
I took my little boy (3.5yr old) crappie fishing for the first time to Yellow Creek Indiana, PA. We had a blast catching nice fillet sized crappie all around 10-12.5 inches, 18 of them to be exact. We caught several little guys too. The highlight of the night was after he (my son) had knocked over the minnow bucket....half a pound of minnows, I was picking them up when I saw his bobber begin to sightly move....I told him to grab his pole and set the hook when instructed. When he picked up the rod the bobber disappeared and he began cranking her in...the fish got caught up on some grass and we could see it. He got so excited he threw his rod over his head and began hand lining the fish in.....when it was all said and done my little fishing buddy hauled in a 16.25" Black crappie that weighed 2lbs4oz. It was amazing sharing that moment with him. God is good!!!
I pray that I may live to fish....... Until my dying day.
And when it comes to my last cast, I then most humbly pray:
When in the Lord's great landing net And peacefully asleep
That in His mercy I be judged Big enough to keep.
