I live for it!!!! As far as im concerned its the best time of year!! Its the one kind of fishing you dont need alot of money to do! a simple rod a bucket and your good to go!!Now me on the other hand i have evolved over 40 years of ice fishing with 3 ice shanties 2 fish finders many rods and tons of accessories like 2 augurs and you name it!!!Many people think its insane ot be out there in cold but honestlt with the proper equipment i dont get cold. any members ever want to try this winter and who never been pm me be gald to show you.Our group crappie.com usually has an outing just for that purpose to introduce new guys to the sport. Most of us have extra gear even sheds and the like if folks want to give it a try. One word of caution!! You will get hooked!!!! like i did 40 so years ago!!!!!!!!

I hope so after 6" of solid ice emerges and we get a reasonably tranquil day. I normally just use the regular ultralight gear, but seem to be out of touch these days with the magic jigs that seem to make the difference when tipped with the proper meat of the day. I have tried microspoons through the ice, but no luck on them.

No, where i fish the fish count gets smaller and smaller each year.. Not worth walking around and punching tons of holes to catch 2 fish in the season.
