Why is this? They know how to catch salmon and steelhead with a float rod or a centerpin rod. They excel at this compared to us americans.

Wacker Baits carries Fox pole floats in that range. They also carry the clear Drennan floats.Wacker Carp Bait & Tackle Home

If I can't get it at Wacker, I order from Mike Stone at Tackleshop:

    TackleShop.co.uk - Fishing tackle - Online - Worldwide

I bought a bunch of Drennan pole floats from Mike. He can get you anything.

FishUSA also carries Drennan floats, including the clear ones: http://www.crappie.com/crappie/panfi...ww.fishusa.com

That's an understatement. There aren't any salmon or steelhead in Atlanta, but for everything else that swims in a river, I use a variety of English river floats (mostly Avons) and I fish 'em with my centerpin reel.

I catch a lot of trout in the Hooch, mostly while fishing for carp. Float fishing is deadly on them.

    Dirk,

I find this one interesting. Did you create this out of necessity?

yeah I have made few different float out of quills. I use them fishing off of local fishing docks. At night around here the crappie tend to stack up on the edge of the light and we use slip corks to catch them. The quill is my favorite because the black and white make it very easy to see and its sensitivity in unmatched.
