I see you turned the rear grip to get the shape some of the JDM rods have. Looks great!

Mirage is soft but with some pretty decent backbone. I am thinking of building a bfs rod on the 61 blank.

Thanks Danny. That’s the shape I wanted but couldn’t find it in eva so this is what I came up with. Very comfortable. What I learned was to not overpower the blank for the best cast. Lots of fun, now……where do I put it? Racks are kinda full.

Alpha, all good but a little noisy. Smoothest I’ve had in my hands for a while. Drag was ok and wasn’t as loud as Victors. The one gill I spoke of had it making some racket though. I had to adjust the speed of my cast or it doesn’t cast well. If I cast it hard and fast it doesn’t go anywhere. Slow it down some and it’s just fine.
Nice looking rod, skeet. Sounds like it has to load up some before you cast.

Glad it worked out with the rear grip. While it is a shame eva was not available, cork is giving it a nice look.

Yes, it’s best to not cast too hard with Mirage. I would sometimes while fishing out of the kayak and the tip would get into the water lol! What amazes me about it is the sensitivity (among domestic offerings) despite having quite a moderate action.

That sure is a nice looking stick. I’m glad you got to put a bend in it. Also, those presso reels sure are nice. I’ve been using mine quite a bit lately and have been enjoying myself. Is that a donkey tail jr you are using for bait?

Hey Michael, been wondering where you got off to. It’s a donkey tail and I’m using a horsefly a lot too. Stinkin gills are smokin em! Thanks for the good words on the rodeo. It’s a fun one to add to the stable. I added a couple of guides to the tip section of my Lightning Rod yesterday and it looks a lot better loaded up now. Had to give mom her tables back so I’ve put up the machine for now. Hope you’ve been doing OK. Have you gotten out and made a fish story or two for us? The Japanese heads are super sharp and the BG-1 is doing pretty good too. I’ve been fishing alone so I can remember to get into the stuff I haven’t tried yet. I need more time. Hope to hear from you again soon.

Tim, all is well my way. I’ve got a few trips I need to post where I got into some really nice gills for this area. My oldest is 6 and she seems to like fishing with dear old dad so I’ve been enjoying that when we can go. I broke a rod on Saturday and boy did it hurt. I’ve got a local shop that’s going to try to do like a small sleeve. The break is pretty close to one of the eyes about 5 guides down. He said it would be 10 bucks and they do a good job so I figured I’d see what he comes up with before I order a new rod because I can’t find the tip section. I’ll try to get a couple trips posted soon. Maybe tonight. I tried to send you a pm and your box was full a few weeks ago. Should have just shot you a text. Glad to see you still after those pretty panfish.
